Mercer University Law School Student's Dismembered Remains Found

Police in Macon, Georgia, are investigating the murder of Mercer University Law School student Lauren Giddings. Her dismembered body was found outside of her apartment mere hours after she was reported missing. As it is still early in the investigation, police are not publicly talking about possible suspects or leads. What they are asking the public for is information on the rest of Giddings' remains.

Just before Giddings was reported missing, she went her family home in Laurel, Maryland, to attend the wedding of her sister. Giddings had only been back in Macon, Georgia, for a few days to vacate her apartment and complete her degree when she did not respond to repeated calls from her family and friends. Police made the macabre discovery after responding to a missing person's report.

What police do know is that whoever killed Lauren Giddings was somehow acquainted with the victim. When authorities entered her apartment, they found her wallet, mobile phone and keys. She had recently contacted her boyfriend and alerted him to the fact that someone was trying to get into her apartment while she was away. No other physical evidence has yet been located inside of Giddings' apartment.

While the close knit community in Macon, Georgia, continues to mourn the death of Lauren Giddings, some concerned citizens are feeding tips to the police. Suspicious persons, questionable activities and even reports of foul odors have been reported to authorities. It will likely be several weeks before police are able to make a determination as to how and when Giddings died.
